Miguel Deras Zapata was born in Durango, Mexico, but now resides and works in Toronto, Canada.  He completed his B.A. in Visual Arts at the University of Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico and also studied at the Insituto de Bellas Artes in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.  He has exhibited extensively in Mexico as well as in Spain, Australia, and Canada.  His first Canadian solo exhibition at Palace Fine Art and Craft Gallery, Toronto, was followed by his work being selected for the exhibition, From Hands to Lips, at the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, Waterloo, Ontario.  His work is now part of the Gallery's permanent collection.  In Toronto he is represented by the gallery, Muse, and he continues to participate in exhibitions locally and internationally.
